The CURRICULUM - Martial Arts University!
The Champions Journey
The Champions Journey is a one of a kind curriculum that is designed to facilitate and further the students self discipline, personal power and growth into a complete martial artist. The Champions Journey and The Champions Attitude curriculum go hand in hand and compliment each other. One is good without the other but when used together the results are colossal. Use both of these curriculums daily and try to work them into your daily activities. Try to find a few minutes during the day to think about or to discuss the Champions Attitude curriculum. The more you think about it, talk about it and do it, the more likely the Champions Attitude will become second nature. Along with this make sure you are holding yourself or your child accountable to The Champions Journey curriculum. This is the self-discipline curriculum that will help improve your self-discipline in every area of your life. Together these curriculums will empower you to become the complete martial artist.
Future Champions
Children between the ages of 3 & 4-years old are in a very distinct growing stage. They are embarking on new discoveries everyday and learning how to cope with all of the challenges in everyday life. Their intellect, emotions, physical capabilities, and social competence all are growing at a rapid rate. So fast, that they often overlook what’s important and can hardly tell the difference between right and wrong.
That’s where the Future Champions Program comes into play. Our program was specially designed for the stages of development of 3 & 4-year olds. We’ve collected scientific and psychological resources regarding this age group, and used that information to ensure that our program meets each child’s characteristics and capabilities.
In the Future Champions Program, each child will experience training that targets the skills that they are currently developing; skills such as large and gross motor skills, behavior development, and character development. These skills have been broken down into age-specific exercises, games, activities, and drills that compliment their stage of development.
We use the martial arts approach to building their skills through these drills. The approach includes reinforcing good discipline, displaying confidence, and maintaining a positive attitude. Technical martial art training is very limited when it comes to traditional moves and techniques; we reserve that portion of development for the older children who have set a clear foundation of what we consider the preliminary requirements to martial arts training.
With this in mind, we want to reinforce that martial arts training extends way beyond kicking and punching. That’s why it may appear that your child is not learning enough martial arts in class, but the fact is they really are. The customary discipline protocol is martial arts. This includes standing at attention when commanded, responding with respect by saying “yes sir” and “yes ma’am”, saluting to the flags and each other, and maintaining a positive attitude. With professional Martial Artist as the role-model instructors, and the mixture of fun games and activities with basic kicks, strikes, and blocks during class, your child’s first exposure to martial arts training will generate results!
Here is a brief list of what your child will learn:
1. Motor skill development
1. Throwing and executing
2. Pulling and retracting
3. Stepping (forward, backward, and side)
4. Running
5. Jumping
6. Balancing
7. Rolling
2. Behavior development
1. Learning how to take turns
2. Learn how to manage frustration
3. Learn how to be respectful when others are speaking
3. Character development
1. Learn how to make friends
2. Learn how to tell the truth
3. Learn how to share
4. Learn how to maintain good manners
Where will the Future Champion Program
take my child’s training?
The Future Champions Program provides consistency in each child’s developmental process. Through consistency in their training, they will properly develop the skills mentioned on this site and prepare them for the next program: The Little Champions (ages 5 & 6). The foundation set through the Prep Course Program will enable them to successfully transfer to the next program with the proper abilities and mindset they need. Once they enter the Little Champions Program, you will notice that they enter a new stage of development, which is the next phase of their growing process. back up
Little Champions
This program was specifically designed to target the stages of development of 5 & 6-year olds. The curriculum in the Little Champions Program includes years of research and development proven effective for this age group. Our goal for the Little Champions Program is to maximize the effectiveness of each participants training with valuable lessons that will enhance their life.
What is the Little Champions Program?
The Little Champions Program is a preliminary martial arts training course that focuses on building 5 & 6-year olds capabilities; physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. We call our program “Little Champions” because it will help shape each student’s life in a way that will help them on their way to becoming life champions. We are confident in what our program can do for your child.
Children this age are in a unique growth period in their life. They are refined in their gross motor skills, while establishing a foundation in basic fundamental skills. These basic fundamental skills include:
• focus
• teamwork
• control
• balance
• memory
• discipline
• fitness
• Coordination.
In any other sport of activity, all of these 8 skills are important to have. The more exposure to proper development in each of these skills, the better your child will be. For this reason, we have tailored a 9-level training course that increases the intensity of each skill at every level.
In the Little Champions Program, your child will train in an environment that is just right for them. They will train with other children in their age group, and not have to be limited or overwhelmed by younger and older children. Each class will accommodate every student’s skills and abilities in a way that is not overly demanding or intimidating. That means more age-specific instruction with better results. We guarantee it!
Again, welcome to the Little Champions Program! Not only do we guarantee that your child will benefit from their training, we also guarantee that he or she will have a lot of fun in the process! back up
Junior Champions
This course was designed specially for children ages 7 & 8-years old. We realize that children this age have specific characteristics that differ from children younger and older than them. They are sharper and more focused than children 6 and under, however, they are still not quite ready to face the same challenges presented to children 9 to 12-years of age. Although some children between the ages of 7 & 8 can keep up with older children, and in some cases, surpass them, the average 7 & 8-year old can benefit from a more specific type of training that will help them develop the best; physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
The stages of development for children 7 & 8-years old have been studied. Research targeted 8 advanced skills that children of this age group are in the process of developing. Those skills are:
To complete the study and design the perfect curriculum for this age group, a thorough curriculum was developed and the Junior Champions course was born.
In the Junior Champions program, your child will learn and grow in a process that accommodates their skills and abilities. They will train with other children in their age group, and not have to be distracted by younger or older classmates. This means that their training will not be slowed down due to the learning abilities of a younger child; and it will not be sped up to keep up with the capabilities of pre-teens. This means better, more functional classes designed just for them. Your child will feel comfortable and more capable of achieving excellence. They are at an age where the more special they feel, the harder they will try. With that in mind, welcome to the Junior Champions program! back up
Senior Champions
Children between the ages of 9 to 12 are in a very important stage in their life. With the dream and haunts of being a teenager, which is right around the corner, there are many physical, emotional, social, and intellectual challenges that they all face. With the right developments and positive reinforcement, your child will face their transition as a teenager with an enthusiastic outlook.
Imagine your son or daughter at the top of their class intellectually. We’re not talking about a straight “A” student, although that does help, we’re talking about a child who is smart enough to make the right decisions; a child who knows how to set and achieve goals; a child who understands the importance of commitment; a child who knows how to persevere through the most difficult challenges; a child who knows when to say “no”. Also imagine your child in the middle of a positive social circle who knows how to make and keep friends. Vision your child physically competent, capable of meeting and completing physical challenges. Best image yet, think about how relieving it would feel to see your child, day in and day out, cope with emotional challenges with a positive outlook.
Do all of those things sound good? Do they seem possible? Did you know that by enrolling your child into our Senior Champions program, you are reinforcing all of those scenarios through martial arts training? Do you want to know how we are going to do it?
It’s very simple.
The Senior Champions is an innovative children’s martial arts program that was specifically designed to challenge and develop the skills of a pre-teen. This program targets the characteristics of pre-teens and utilizes those characteristics to help them develop physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. The best part about their development is that they are learning and growing through martial arts training. Therefore, your child will build dynamic martial arts capabilities while gaining courage and confidence, and they will learn how to think smarter and harder with children their same age. It is the best formula for success!
We will help mold your child into a leader, a dreamer, and a character that brings out the best in his or her personality. Martial arts capture children’s undivided attention. That is what makes their positive growth and development possible. When a child chooses to participate in an activity that is good for them, they know it and support it. Children like to be their own individual who makes their own decisions. Training in the martial arts quite possibly will be the best decision they make during their adolescence.
With your ongoing support, you will help lead your pre-teen into the future with a positive attitude. Their commitment and concentration must always have your encouragement and guidance. As a team, we will be reshaping our community one child at a time. back up
Here’s how the Senior Champions Program works:
The Senior Champions program is split into four series: the beginners, the intermediates, the advanced, and the elites. Upon completion of each series, your child will have accomplished a goal that will lead them to the next. By the time your child completes the final series, he or she will earn the rank of 1 st Degree Black Belt- a very high honor and accomplishment for anyone at any age.
Within each series, your child will have to successfully complete each level of training. To complete each level, they will have 6 portions of curriculum to master. These 6 portions include the following:
1. Traditional material- this includes basic martial art moves, self-defense, and forms. The material is set up in a rotating curriculum so that they are only required to test on one of the above at each level, starting with the basic techniques at level 1 of each series. Self-defense is the traditional curriculum at level 2 of each series, and at level 3 of each series they will have a new form that is more challenging than the one before.
2. Dynamic performance- this portion of the curriculum challenges the student's skills and abilities in a way that increases their performance and intensity of their martial arts education. Out of all of the portions of the curriculum, this portion was meant to excite the spectators.
3. Sport training- this includes the competitive hand-to-hand application of their martial arts training in a controlled manner. This portion of the training is the most fun for the students, especially as their skills get better.
4. Board breaking- this is when the students will "wow" themselves and those who watch. This curriculum was implemented into the program to build the student's aim and accuracy of their martial arts abilities.
5. Physical development- it is the most sustainable part of anyone's health to maintain physical fitness. The sooner a child learns the benefits of fitness, the better chance it will stick with them throughout their adulthood.
6. Mental development- a wise martial artist is the best martial artist. When a student understands the importance of morals and values, their confidence and attitude shift to a very positive outlook.
From these 6 portions of the Senior Champions curriculum, we are capable of establishing and refining physical, social, emotional, and intellectual excellence. The best part about your child’s training, besides the many benefits, is that it is extremely fun. The curriculum is challenging enough not to bore them, and at the same time is not overly challenging so that they don’t get discouraged. With strong goals, effort, and commitment, your child will become the best they can be! back up
XMA
Xtreme Martial Arts or XMA, is a mixed sport of acrobatics, gymnastics and martial arts. XMA also sets an X-games kind of pace to weapons drills as well. It is a combination of techniques, methods of movements and philosophies from all martial arts styles. It is a mixture of virtually all martial arts styles blended together with high-flying acrobatics and gymnastics.
To quote Mike Chat, creator of XMA, the program is: "The ability to perform highly skilled moves and also the ability to perform basic moves and make them look spectacular! This is why XMA is not only for the elite level athletes and competitors, but also for beginners at the entry level as well. It is the look in one’s eyes and position of one’s body that tells the story. It’s not only about punching and kicking, or jumping and flipping, but more, showing strength through the mind as well as the body. To stand planted with your feet on the ground and command the attention of the audience without sound or movement, using only the look in your eyes and the strength of your stance, actually shows more power than any punch, kick or flip. That’s Xtreme! XMA (Xtreme Martial Arts) is great for the extreme person and the not so extreme! The great thing about XMA is that it’s designed for anyone... You don’t need any prior knowledge of martial arts to try it out (or look good doing it either)! The point of the XMA class is to take the skills that students already have and turn them to the XTREME!" back up |
